Lately I've been thinking about getting a new bass, but I didn't even think of looking at Ibanez's - they've never really been my 'thing'. However I was in a local shop trying a couple of second hand basses when I saw the double humbuckers... so I tried it out and ordered one when I got home!
I wasn't sure what the colour was going to be like - 'Moonshadow', a metallic silver. Its actually quite nice, and growing on me. It arrived in perfect condition with a great finish.
Being as my good amp is at home, and I'm at uni, I've only played it so far through my little practice amp (Laney HCM30B), but the difference in sound between the Nez and my old Tanglewood MM style bass is very noticable - the active EQ and dual humbuckers give it a nice full sound with a great range of tones.
I'd opted for Premier Service, and it plays beautifully - as I'd expect from Peter Allen! The only thing I noticed was that the action isn't as low as I'm used to (it is VERY low on my other bass), but my Tanglewood buzzes a lot because of it, so its probably a good thing!
Yes, I love this bass - it sounds and plays better than I would have expected for a cheap-ish bass (£219), but the test comes at a gig through my bigger amp and PA system...
Cheers
Andrew
