Guitar: Fender Jeff Beck Stratocaster (with Little Richard's autograph on it).
Started out in the '60s with a Strat, switched to Telecasters during the Yardbirds period, and then back to Strats (because of his mate Jimi Hendrix's influence). Has largely played Strats and Teles ever since.
Used a Gibson Les Paul during the Blow By Blow and Wired period.

Amps:Plenty over the years. Yardbirds: Two Vox AC30 combos linked together.
During the '80s: Two Fender Twin Reverbs.

Strings: Early days: extra light gauge (.008s). (Complained of them cutting his fingers like cheese wire. Hendrix converted him to a heavier gauge)
He now uses .011, .013, .017, .028, .038 & .049.

Picks: When asked he said, “ Don’t use ‘em. I’ve got five attached to my right hand”.
Damn right you have Jeff \:D

Surely his list of equipment should just read: Jeff Beck.

Certainly, his list of effects and signal processing should.

He used Les Pauls a lot more than some think. Certainly live with the Yardbirds, then on most of Truth, Beck-Ola etc up to Wired, and on Beck Bogert and Appice.

He also used a Gretsch DuoJet on the Crazy legs album.

For amps he also used Marshall 100W stacks with the Jeff Beck Group. Recently (the last 10 years or so) he has been using Marshall DSL 50 amps.

Mind you he could play a £50 guitar through a £25 amp and still sound fantastic.

I'm going to see the man himself play in a couple of weeks - can't wait! Really only got into his material just recently, after watching the Ronnie Scotts gig he played. Jeff's really turned me back on to playing my electric guitar.

Any other artists I should check out along similar lines?

Others? Well Peter Green and Gary Moore for starters. Maybe Paul Kossoff in his moodier moments.

Oh look. All Les Pail men.

I first saw Jeff live with the Yardbirds in 1965 at the old Coventry Theatre, and it changed my life. I'd never heard sounds like that come out of a guitar and amp. I met him when my band played support to the Jeff Beck Group (with Rod Stewart), and I've seen him play a number of times since and he's never less than gob-smacking. Roll on next Thursday when I'll be seeing 'The Guvnor' again at Birmingham Symphony Hall!

That's great that you played support for Jeff Beck! I'm seeing him in Manchester and I cannot wait.

What other guitarist do you listen to like Jeff Beck - if its at all possible to be anything like him?
