Hi, looking for a small mixing desk to use at home. Really just to play around with, mix guitar, mic, CD player etc together so I can either push them all into one amp or connect to PC for recording. I don't want to spend more than £100, doesn't need to be too complex. I've looked at Behringer 802, Peavey PV6 and Soundcraft notepad reviews but they mostly say they are crap. Does anyone know of a fairly decent unit that would fit the bill without going over the £100 please

Agreed, the Behringer Xenyx mixers are definitely not crap! I had a 1202FX that I traded with thetenthplace. I had some good results with it, and I don't think Andy has any complaints...

Thanks, still no nearer to deciding though. I don't know much about mixers yet and need to know a couple of things please. If you have a mixer like the tapco 50 which has one mic/line i/put and two stereo i/puts - can the stereo i/ps be used as 4 mono i/ps? Presumably you can connect up to 5 mono sources (not including the tape inputs)but obviously the two that form a stereo pair can't be adjusted seperately. The other thing is does the output always have to be stereo or could all 5 channels be outputed to a single mono jack that could then connect to the input of a single amplifier? I also take it that the mic/line inputs have a gain adjustmenr whereas the stereo ones don't?

Thanks Brian. Another question comes to mind now. Are most of these small mixers analogue output? I want one to either connect several analogue sources (instruments, mics, tapes etc)to a single amp or to the mic input socket on my laptop so I guess a digital mixer is defo not what I want.

It's not a good idea to connect the two outputs together into a mono socket. Better just to crank the balance controls all the way over to one side and just use a single output from the mixer.
You don't need a digital mixer, and the Tapco Mix 60 would do the job.
Where in West Yorkshire are you? I'm in Normanton (near Wakefield). You're welcome to pop round and take a look at the setup I use (including the Tapco Mix 50). It might give you some ideas.
Paul.
