Ok, only the home practice style amps but I was amazed to see this listed:

Argos Orange Amp

Changed days!

I must say I saw this a few days ago and was surprised to say the least.
If I was a retailer who stocked Orange amps I don't think I would be for much longer.

I was a little surprised to see something I imagine is of reasonable quality in the musical instrument section of Argos' website, but then I had a look at their wider range of guitars and accessories and was reassured that Argos is still definitely not the place to go for your guitar gear.

I dont think we should forsake Orange but rather praise Argos for actually beginning to make an effort. As much as I hate the conglomerates, it is surely a good thing that good quality equipment is becoming more and more widely available.

Twenty two years ago I bought a Fender squier bullet amp and guitar from a national electrical outlet. On tick, I might add. The amp still works and the guitar was rebuilt by a friend as a hobby job.

Fender are a world leading guitar and amp company and they took the risk of using a high street outlet. So if Argos want to sell Orange amps in like manner good for them.

At least Orange has the guts to offer one of it's products to wider audiences which inturn could benefit local music stores. Do they, Argos, sell for example strings pleckies and all the small necessary stuff we buy on a regular basis. That will be either no or not yet.

I think that it's good that quality stuff can be purchased in a town centre store. Certain items have completely disappeared from the high street, and many of these are items are ones that you can't buy online with confidence as you need to see/hear/fit them first. I have the same problem with quality HiFi or cricket bats (or any other real item of sports gear for that matter), neither of which you will find on most High Streets.

Cricket Bats? Phew thats hard work, buying a cricket bat is no easier than buying a guitar.

To the non player it's a white bit of wood with a rubber handle. To the Batsman its his self respect, confidence, abillity, kudos bowlers nightmare all in one. Oh man you've started something there.
