Hi

I'm (hopefully) picking up a GK 700RB II in the next couple of weeks and I was wondering if it's possible to run it through my Carlsbro Bassline 150 speaker for the short term. I intend to get a 1x15 and a 2x10 later on but because I gig a lot and don't have much money, I'd rather spend what's left over on a flight case for the head.

I'm assuming it's just a case of taking out the BL head from the cab and re-attaching the cable from the speaker, but is there anything that I need to check out first before risking destroying either the head or speaker?

With a bit of luck, the GK head might even slot into the cab for the time being. ;\)

Thanks,

Thom

As long as the impedance of the speaker is equal to or higher than the output impedance the amp requires then you'll be fine. Don't plug it in if the amp wants 16Ohms and the speaker is only 8 or 4!!!

Thanks man, I'll have a look when I take it apart, which I need to do anyway since the BL is held together with gaffa tape at the moment anyway.

Just an additional question, could anyone suggest a decent cheap(ish) rack tuner that works well with bass? Just got suggested a Korg DTR1000, any good?

If the BL speaker sounds nice it'd be good to rely on a good tuner rather than most that barely pick up the E string, never mind the low B.

Thanks again

Thom
