Anyone own one of the Line 6 pocket pods?

I'm after something for practicing and for quick/easy recording of song ideas/sketches without messing around with too much kit (i.e. my pedal board).

So I'd be either running it with headphones, or into my Mac running Garageband.

I've briefly used a full size pod (not sure which model it was but it'd have been a fair few years ago). Sounded OK, but didn't really use it in anger.

So what's you opinion?

Col

I currently have a POD2 and used to have a pocket POD as well- both really good. THe pocketpod has way more presets- mostly with names taken from the song they're ripping off. When plugged into a computer you can control the whole thing onscreen then save your patches- makes editting really easy.

The Pod2 has less presets but is far more tweakable on its own- most functions have their own knobs, so you just set it on the device and go.

Both have their merits, no doubt \:\)

My band uses one of these:

It doesn't have effects but gives brilliant quality audio for recording. If you use a line in into a mac with garageband you can apply any of the effects in there and play away with it.
Not as 'fun' as the line 6 in terms of 'toys and gadgets' but a whole lot better in quality.

A bit out of my price range that, but looks impressive.

It's really the effects I'm after. I have a pedal board with numerous seperate stomp boxes and a Tascam USB interface for recording, but with a young baby in the house I don't get the chance to play through that much during the week. Especially as all my guitar stuff is in the room next to the little chap.

So what I want it something I can mess with through headphones or the Mac so I can sketch stuff out in the evenings then work on properly when I get time at the weekend.

I've never been into digital multi effect thingys, so I don't want to spend too much, and hopefully Ebay re-sale values are decent in case I don't get on with it!

I won a pocket pod on Ebay at the weekend, so I'll give it a go and see if I like it.

If not it'll be back on Ebay!

I love it!

I was out of the country last week so my package from Ebay was waiting for me when I got home on Friday. Had a quick play then, but gave it a good workout last night.

Only used it through headphones so far and it's great. Really impressed with the range of sounds. I basically went through all the presets, a lot of which I really liked.

I'll spend some time this week reading the manual and downloading the editing software.

A great practice/writing tool. It's certainly not going straight back on Ebay.

Glad you like it.

I've been well impressed with my POD Studio, which I assume uses much the same software. I was showing it to a friend of mine at the weekend, and I think he'd have one by now if Richard hadn't divested him of £700 for a new Stonebridge acoustic

I've always found Line6 stuff to be very user friendly and capable of some pretty extreme sounds- they seem to err more towards the Electro Harmonix "eccentricity is good, and we can live with a little noise" model than the BOSS "studio quiet and just a little bit dull" method.
