I haven't heard of that one littleAngel but it seems well thought of over at IMDb.

Some of the very earliest funnies still work for me. Chaplin's Modern Times and The Great Dictator are really funny satires and some of the Marx brothers' films have seminal one-liners.

"I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it."
Priceless.

I recommend Taegukgi: Brotherhood of War. Not for the faint-hearted, better than Saving Private Ryan.

A must-see film is 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Then you must come round and tell me what the heck it is all about...

2001 is about man's evolution, apparently programmed by advanced alien technology.

The real 2001 wasn't nearly so much fun. And 1984 was nothing like the book. The Day After Tomorrow came and went uneventfully. Next up: 2012.

Thanks Dave. It was all those pretty lights man; far out but really confusing.

Actually the fictional 1984 wasn't that different from reality. One was about the time we had a tyrannical leader oppressing the rights of citizens, pursuing wars in a frenzy of patriotism to divert people's attention away from the dull meaningless drudgery of their pitiful existence, and the other was a film.

I fully expect 2012 to be exactly as predicted. I can't wait to see that stadium that goes round and round and then all the seats float down and it gets built in minutes - that's going to be amazing.

Today's suggestion for a must-see film is Lawrence of Arabia. David Lean's direction, some first-rate acting from Peter O'Toole and a terrific story are an effective combination. That scene when Omar Sharif appears out of the heat haze is a classic.

Jenny Agutter is worth a thread on her own but probably not on this forum...

(Long pause...)

Anyway where was I? Oh yeah films.

I think must-see film is Bowling For Columbine. For several reasons:

1. It shows the gun-totin' nut jobs for the idiots that they are and at the same time what a lot of sense Marilyn Manson speaks.
2.
3.

Sorry, still thinking about Jenny Agutter...
