martin2hall martin2hall One of the Regulars Registered: 09/01/10 Posts: 61	Hi All, Sorry if it has been discussed before but I'm just getting into home recording and I want to get some decent headphones for doing so. I would also like to use them for listening to Hi Fi. My budget is £50-£70 - I have been looking at Beyers and Senheisers it seems though that £50 will get you a half decent pair but then the next set up are more like £100 or more. The leaps between models seem enormous. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I track and mix on headphones, which all the books will tell you is not advisable, ie. mixes should be checked on headphones but done using nearfield monitors. But I guess like most home recordists, I can't blast away in my studio room on my powerful monitors without the missus running upstairs and putting a stop to it! Hence, I work with headphones 99% of the time, obviously checking my mixes elsewhere, mainly in the car where my ears are attuned to commercial CDs and can pick up easily the areas where my mixes aren't correct. You need to get the very best you can so that all parts of the sound sprectrum are reproduced accurately without bias. I moved in the end to Sennheiser and bought the HD 650: HD 650 Product Link I realise that's not much help because they are way over your budget at £250+, but I'd recommend you get the best you can push your budget to, as they'll last for years and constitute a vital part of your kit. Opting for Beyer or Sennheiser is a very good idea. John _________________________ My band My songs
