I've just acquired a cheap doubleneck guitar and not surprisingly it has the worst humbuckers ever. Usually I would head straight for Irongear replacements, but I noticed that Axesrus have quite a lot of attractively priced pickups available. Has anyone tried these and, if so, what are they like?

I was also thinking about P90s for the 12-string neck for extra 'clang' - do you think this would be wise?

I'll let you know, as I have just ordered a set of pickups from them myself. Most internet comments I have seen on axesrus seem generally positive.

Can you tell us more about the cheap double necked guitar? Which brand? Etc.

It's this monstrosity:

..which I got for £199 ex-demo (with quite a big chip out of it). It's taken a lot of tinkering over the past week to make it remotely playable, but I'm getting there!

That is a monstrosity \:\) (said in good humour I hope.

Given what you say about it, I think the full price of £399 is a tad high. Much more attractive at half price.

Actually I've been a bit unfair - now I've shimmed both the necks it's not too bad. Once I get the new strings on it should be fine. And the pups aren't as bad as I first thought now I've realised that adjusting the volume on one neck affects the volume on the other neck. Turning one neck's volume to 10 seems to suck power off the other neck's pups, and turning either volume to 0 turns everything off. I don't think this is a fault as such, I just don't understand electrics well enough to figure out what's happening!
