Interestingly-voiced strat pickups?

I'm thinking of putting some new pickups in my JD Tele as part of a long-overdue overhaul (new electronics already done, Wilkinson bridge w/compensated saddles in the pipeline, might take the finished article over to Richards' for a fettle...).
Anyway, I'm quite happy with the idea of a regular Tele-style bridge pickup (the sound of which is a treat for the ears, and should be experienced by every guitarist with taste), but since my guitar has a strat-sized neck pickup rather than the usual Tele-style small unit, my options are much wider for the replacement unit there.
So my question is: what interesting options can you dig up for me from internetland? Single-sized humbuckers? P-90 voiced? Filtertron stylee? Something even weirder? Anything I can poke through a strat-pickup-sized hole in a pickguard considered...
Fly! Fly, my pretties!

The guitar should already be routed for a full size humbucker so you could change the pick guard and widen your horizons even further. Alternatively put in the Seymour Duncan humbucker that Fender use in the vintage hot rod 52 telecaster. Very nice.

Nope, not interested. I already have plenty of options with a single coil sized slot. If I want a humbucker, there are plenty of single-coil sized units out there I could use.
I'm a bit of a tradionalist about how my guitar looks, and a bit of a tightwad too, so paying for a new scratchplate is out.

Well Bob I feel shot down in flames after that but the Seymour Duncan that is used in the vintage tele is single coil size and also used in various Framus Renegades. Check out the web site.

^ trouble is, that leaves me with the same problem as changing to a larger pickup- I'll need a new scratchplate either way.
So far, interesting suggestions I've had here or at Harmonycentral include:
Lace Sensor (specifically Blue "PAF") Fender Texas Special BG Pickups Strat 90 (P90 sound, strat size)
I've also been toying with Seymour Duncan- maybe a Li'l 59? JBjr?
My brother in law has just bought himself a 90s Clapton strat with Lace Sensors, so I might get a chance to try those out over the weekend. I don't know off the top of my head which colours are on the Clapton sig though...

I had a listen to some more Tele clips over at the Seymour Duncan website, and I have to say they sound pretty good (although not a lot different from a regular single coil...).
I'm quite keen on the P90 options at the moment- having listened to some clips I'm not liking the full-humbucker options, but I do like the idea of that extra girth compared to a regular single coil.
