My singer is backwards and i've loaned him one of my guitars so that he has an electric to use (His are acoustics) I've reversed the bridge but everything sounds just a little out of tune when playing anything other than open chords - also ive not reversed the nut - reckon that will do any damage?

Thanks leftys!!

When you say "reversed the bridge", what exactly have you done? I can't quite get my head round it...

If you've re-strung it so that the low strings are now where the thin ones were, I would have thought you'd *have* to reverse the nut, otherwise the low strings wouldn't sit in the narrow slots and the high strings would be moving around in oversized slots, not to mention the relative string heights being all wrong. I don't think it's a complicated job, or an expensive one, but I'd be very cautious about doing it myself. Flipping the nut won't damage the guitar, but an inexperienced workman trying to do it might.

Have you checked the intonation since you made the changes? I would imagine that will need to be adjusted, and that sounds like your problem...

yep, if you flip a guitar from righty to southpaw it'll need a full setup- at least the nut and bridge will need some changes or the intonation will be completely wrong

Had anticipated the nut being a problem and by reverse The bridge i just meant changing it so the new stings intonate correctly (which they still dont really after ages of fiddling), most likely due to the nut. Damn cackhanded singers! thanks guys!

So you've set the intonation and it's still out of tune? Weird.

S0d it, tell him to buy his own bl00dy electric guitar. Sponger.

Backward AND cackhanded in a single thread - in the left handed forum too!!!!! Tongue in cheek & innocently used perhaps, but mildly insulting terms to a leftie nonetheless.
