Hey all,

I'm happy with my current recording set up (Shure 57 beta / Rode NT1-A into Soundcraft Compact 4 mixer for pre-amp & phantom power), but my old PC is becoming frustratingly sluggish. Pretty much the only reason I've kept it is for the Audiophile 2496 soundcard.

Can anyone suggest a replacement USB interface so I could use my higher-powered laptop instead? I don't need any pre-amping or anything, just a way to get the stereo RCA outputs from the mixer into the laptop via USB.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I use an M-Audio Fast Track Pro. Not the cheapest but am very happy with it.

I looked into this recently, the best bang for buck I could find was this:

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/78819

pod farm also comes with it and is meant to be pretty good. Plus it come with the recording software etc.

Anyone heard anything about the Cakewalk UA-1G? Comes bundled with Sonar LE which would be useful. I've been using Sonar 4 PE for the past 5 years, but that won't work in Windows 7. Different topic I know, but has anyone tried Sonar LE? Think switching to a different DAW program might be difficult now; I use so many of the additional effects and synths I have for 4.

I have an Alesis iO|2 which works fine for me.
The built in pre-amp is a bit naff for vocals / very quiet accoustic stuff though where I'd really like a high pass filter and an input compressor / limiter.
This might not matter to you.

E-mu 0202 isn't bad either.
