I love vinyl too and still have my complete collection. My 1983 JVC turntable, amp and speakers are permanently set up in the lounge. I also collect 78rpms.
My favourite LP is the MONO version of the Beatles' 1967 Sgt. Pepper album, which I believe was never issued on CD. Some of the sound effects are different and some songs have a completely different overall sound (Lucy in the sky with diamonds). The mix is somewhat different too. According to Mark Lewisohn's book on the Beatles' recording sessions, the stereo versions were a rushed job and more care and attention was put in mixing the Mono versions, which were regarded by EMI as being the real deal.
I must get a new stylus and belt for the turntable and transfer it to CD some time.

True- for the most part the stereo mix was for the technophiles with their cutting-edge hi-fi gear, although the emphasis shifted over time so that by the end of the 60s the stereo mix was the "real deal" and the mono mix was there as a concession to the luddites. I don't like a lot of those 60s stereo mixes where they'll have half the band in one channel and the rest in the other.
It is surprising what a difference a stereo vs a mono mix makes to the sound of a record, and also how stereo, while technically "better", doesn't always sound better.

The remastered mono records were released in the boxsets that came out last November. I got the stereo set and it's phenomenal, but I'd love to hear the mono as well, not least because the only record the Beatles actually had a say in the stereo mix for was Abbey Road- they all had an input into the mono mixes, but never the stereos until the end

I came to Rodrigo y Gabriela a bit late and their playing just blows me away. I like the very idea of heavy metal guitarists going acoustic and their eclectic choice of material is inspired. On 11:11 they cite Paco de Lucia as an influence, amongst others, and that alone would be good enough for me. On their eponymous third album which I'm listening to right now they even make Stairway to Heaven sound fresh. This is world class playing.
