One valuble tip i lernt from sanding is to spray the body again black (lightly) and then give it the once over. this should show any uneven spots on the body!

Hey again folks, couldn't add to the original post by edit so I'm adding the most recent images here.
^ This was the dummy pickup I shaped from some refuse wood. I had to route a canal for the neck pickup wire (as it accesses the wiring area via the bridge pup cavity.
^ IKEA pencil and some wood poly filler, later replaced with a dowel wrapped in cardboard and taped to keep the filler supported but also to allow the dowel to be removed leaving the cardboard 'sleeve' inside.
^finished middle section, sanded to level.
^ I whittled and sanded the body, inspired by the ESP F200 as well as the 2010 new RG shape.
^ As a sad fan of Norse mythology and more folk/battle metal (stop sniggering please!) I have decided to name this guitar 'Mjollnir' after the name of Thor's magical hammer This is the general area font (Matura M7) and has already been ordered from a decal site in chrome silver. It's not waterslide, but I'll probably have it lacquered to some extent to keep it safe.
Next stage is final sanding and primer coating so stay tuned!

Good news and bad news:
The good news is that my parts (trem, pickup, nitrocellulose) have arrived and I recently painted the guitar beautifully and soldered the wiring like a champ.
The bad news is that I'm a bit of a r-tard and attempted , in my infinite wisdom, to light sand the acrylic finish after 24 hours when the red finish had had only 6 hours to dry (tackyness). Apparently, sanding acrylic is fine after 24 hours but only when the undercoat is completely dried out. I forgot to wait extra time as I had applied the acrylic to a tacky coat of red finish
Result is a dull, bobbly finish that maintains a constant appearance of a sherbet sprinkling
Nothing a sanding won't solve though. Will have to wait a wee while. Have gained some nitrocellulose for no mistakes this time!

When you're spraying different types of coats - ie primer, colour and lacquer, you should always allow the different layers to dry properly before proceeding with the next. When you mention you have cellulose and acrylic, I would try that out on a bit of scrap wood before going any further. Cellulose has a habit of reacting with anything which isn't cellulose and will most likely make a right mess of the guitar. I've sprayed cellulose on top of halfords acrylic before and I can tell you it resulted in a big yellow mess!
Stick with acrylic throughout, or cellulose throughout. You don't want to be mixing them!
