Okay guys, really quick one.

I've been asked to arrange the music for a 5 piece function band. Basically they have guitar/bass/drums/keyboard/vox(plus a couple backing vox) and need a couple things to boost the sound. I want to put in a few horn parts/synth parts, and possibly some percussion as well.

I'm currently using a 2009 Macbook Pro, running Logic Express, and Finale 2010. I'm now on a fairly tight budget for reasons I don't need to go into, and I don't have any kind of audio interfaces.

I've read all about panning stuff left/right to achieve a click track, and I'll have that sent to everyone in the band, with a count in at the start of each track.

Basically I'm trying to find out whether I need any kind of interface to run my laptop with the backing tracks on, whether I'd need to keep it all in the same file or if there is a way of changing them quickly between songs (probably not a safe idea I'm assuming), and whether it would in fact be better to run it from say an iPod as an mp3 of the entire gig, or use logic on my Mac so I can at least have some control starting and stopping tracks on stage.

What do people recommend as the most K.I.S.S. way of approaching this?

Cheers guys,
Dan
