My Name is Mike, I have played keyboard instruments for many years. Took up Mandolin 4 years ago.Now I want to learn electric guitar I have a new Dean EVO XM Mahogany Electric guitar, I also have a Yamaha Acoustic I have had for some time but never really given it much attention.
Need to learn from the start. Those frets are a whole lot wider than the Mandolin

Hi Mike and welcome to the forums!

Check out http://www.guitarnoise.com/ as they have lots of useful bits and bobs for the new guitarist. Some of their articles are very wordy but I've found them an excellent source of information.

Hi Mike! I'm in the same situation, a keyboard player learning to play the guitar. I'm sure all your questions will be answered here.
Is it Queensbury near Edgware you live in or Queensbury in Yorkshire?

Gilles

Looks like they've been done for copyright infringement. Most of their tabs and lyrics have been removed!

Really? I've not looked at their tabs for a while now. I do however look at their introductions to scales, modes etc. They also have some great articles regarding structured practice sessions.

Yes, this message is displayed on almost every page:

On February 11, 2010 we received a letter from lawyers representing the NMPA and the MPA instructing us to remove guitar tab and lyrics from this page.

I know this is not the right forum for this question but out of curiosity, what keyboards did you play? My (currently unused) rig consists of a Yamaha P150 piano/MIDI controller, DX7 & TX7, Roland JV1080, Akai S1000 & S2800i & E-mu Emulator 4 keyboard. Plus a few VSTi (PPG Wave 2.V, Arturia Jupiter 8V and Prophet V) but I'm not mad about soft synths.
