OK. I admit on comps I am a bit rubbish but I use a Boss BR600 to record ditties with and have tried several times to directly record them onto Audacity by the line out and headphone out sockets.

Both reject the line in to Audacity and nothing gets recorded. Any Ideas. Otherwise, both the normal functions work on both outputs, the wires are OK. Seems to be an internal missive? Help!!!

Your output from the Boss should work with the line in. Then set the record function in your sound system's mixer to use line in. Then if your Boss can be heard, Audacity can get it through its aux sounds recording, which just dumps anything going through the sound card/chip to its .au file.
I've torn so much hair out, forgetting to switch the source to line in on the soundcards over the years...

Thanks. Brilliant. All I have to do now is figure out the line in record volumes verses the output driver volumes, trial and error but we're getting there. Petty the ditties are a bit rubbish but that's down to my twang-ability or lack of.

Cheers and Hurrah!

The pinched harmonic is so late in getting back to the owner I'll need a new signature...
