Hi Kilf,

I own a Yamaha SA 1000 semi (my avatar picture), and I have to say it's awesome! I've played a few Gibson ES 335's in my time, and this is as good as the genuine article in my opinion. If you can get a genuine vintage Japanese example I'm sure you will be pleased with it. I don't want to peddle other peoples websites, but this guy usually has a few for sale http://www.fareastguitars.co.uk/usedguitars.htm He's currently got an SA700 for £675, and in the long run it will probably appreaciate in value too!

Tokai are also another good option, and you can get their ES135 for just over £1000. However, they do have a fairly narrow 41mm nut width which put me off.
