Has anybody played one of those Czech-made axes?
George Harrison had one in the early 60s. It was apparently the most used electric guitar in the UK in the 60s before he Fender/Gibson invasion.

Yeah, the US trade restrictions did european guitar makers a lot of favours. Everyone wanted guitars, nobody could get the ones they *really* wanted (Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, Rickenbacker...), so they bought the closest thing, which was usually something like the guitars you're talking about.

I don't think they're very fondly remembered by the people that played them way back when, and I don't think many survived long enough to see the birth of the "vintage" guitar market proper, which probably makes them very collectable, if not necessarily playable.

Futurama! Brilliant vibe but probably pretty horrible guitars back then. I remember reading that George hated his.

But they DO look cool \:\)
