How do you forum folks do most of your listening? We know a bit about WHAT we listen to, but where and how are people doing it?

Car? Home? Workplace?

CD? Vinyl? mp3?

Headphones or speakers?

What sort of non-guitar audio gear are you using? Are you a bit of a hi-fi nut, or more of a "boombox in the kitchen" kind of guy?

Me:

Listening at work mostly, Sansa Clip+ mp3 player with the earbuds that came with it. Used to have Koss KSC-75 earphones, which were much better, but they broke and I haven't bought any new ones yet.

At home it's a Sony amp, Mordaunt-Short speakers that I bought from a charity shop(!), then either a Sony CD player or an old Omnitronics turntable left over from my brief, misguided DJing phase.

Computer (recording/Spotify mostly) goes through a crusty old Leak amp (60s, possibly?) and some Roth speakers.

Car is strictly Radio 4

In the kitchen, either a Pure DAB One mini or my ipod played through the PURE

If i'm upstairs it's an old Panasonic stereo. The CD player skips like anything but the sound quality is fantastic for something that cost £140 over 10 years ago.

Out and about it's Etymotic hf2- decent in-ear phones with iphone controls. Means I can put an album on with voice control and not even take my phone out of my pcket \:D

Downstairs: my old 1983 JVC stereo system (+ late 80s CD player). The amp and speakers are still going, after 27 years of very heavy use.

Anywhere else: my iPhone 3G's built-in iPod and Spotify Premium.

I have one invite left this month for Spotify Free (the one with the ads and no mobile app), by the way. Anybody interested? All I need is your e-mail address. First come, first served.

I've got a Cambridge Audio Azur CD player and separates amp in the living room, along with a Project Audio Debut turntable for those occasional vinyl moments. Speakers are Wharfedale Diamond 9.1.

Out and about, and in the car, it's an iPod Classic 120gb (almost full) with Sennheiser in ear headphones (CX something).

In the kitchen or bathroom I run the iPod into a Altech Lansing Orbit travel speaker (amazing little thing that, if you're after a mini speaker for your MP3 player check them out).

Then an Altech Lansing T612 speaker dock in the bedroom.

We've also got one of those original Pure DAB wooden boxed radios in the bedroom, and a Roberts retro cream leather DAB in the living room (technically that's my wife's)

Sorry if I've gone over the top with the pictures, I started and got carried away

Nice. Do they know your name at Richer Sounds yet?

A DAB radio is high on my list of things I'd like around the house. 6 Music sounds like something I'd like if I had the opportunity to listen to it. Our freeview box is supposed to be able to receive DAB radio, but reception is terrible if there's any signal at all. Typical britain- get the new digital service to a vague level of mediocrity then turn off the analogue transmitters that work better and are more reliable.

They did a few years ago! Plus Frank Harvey Hi-fi in Coventry where I got the turntable and speakers from. Great Hi-fi shop down Old Spon Street in Coventry. Not been in for years though!

The threads a bit old, but will post regardless as the forum is a bit quiet and try to rival Not the DJ (no pics though). I've collected a few bits over the years.

In the living room a Rega Planet CD player + Cambridge Audio 640 amplifier + Paradigm Monitor 5 floor standing speakers + some Tannoy shelf speakers on the 2nd channel.

In the kitchen a Pure Evoke Flow DAB radio + Harman Kardon Soundsticks. The soundsticks are also really excellent with an iPod.

A 32Gb iPod touch for on the move + an old 20Gb classic for occasions when losing/dropping/having an MP3 player stolen is possible.

A Technics CD player + Denon PMA350 amp + KEF Q35 floor standing speakers for the spare room/guitar room/office. This last little lot I paid a total of £90 for on Ebay. You can get some great deals on 2nd hand hi-fi if you know what you are after.

I've been tempted by those before, they just look so cool. So the sound does live up to the styling?

I think they are very good. By far the best speakers for an iPod or similar I've come across. They've lasted a good while too. They have a separate bass control on the woofer and a touch volume control on one of the sticks and it plays pretty loud with plenty of presence.

And I agree they look the business!

I listen to most music through my pc, and generally flac files rather then mp3 so you can stop spitting on me.

I do still have my 1200's so I can play my vinyl's, but on the pc it's all in one place and nothing gets misplaced or scratched.
