Hi all.
I am considering buying the Fender Superchamp XD. I only play at home, and I like to (try) and play bluesey music. Does anyone know whether I could use headphones with this amp? I notice it has a line out, and wondered if this was usable for phones?
Alternatively, any suggestions for a good, small amp for home use, mainly for blues / blues rock? (With headphone socket) I would prefer a tube setup, to be played with a LPaul.
Thanks in advance.

I'd go for one with a dedicated headphone output. Also 15w of valve amp is pretty heavy for home unless you live in an isolated place. The Fender's gizmos are tempting though and there are ways of practicing with headphones only (multi FX unit or the mini amps that only feed 'phones)
But for your needs, I'd certainly take a look at the little Peavey http://www.thomann.de/ie/peavey_royal_8_valve_king.htm

Also don't rule out a modeling amp, like one of the Roland Cube series. I have the little 15x one and its great for practice, especially on the clean channel. Its very robust, has a range of distortion effects and can take a line in from a CD/mp3 player to play along with. Bigger models also have amp/speaker emulation and a range of effects built in.

If you want headphones you really need a modeller. There are very few true valve amps with headphone sockets, as it's a very complicated thing to build into an analog/valve circuit

Thanks for the suggestions.
It looks like I could get both the Peavey and a cube for the same money as I was looking to spend, so I might do that !!
The main reason for the Fender was for the clean tone. I love the sound of it clean! How does a cube compare on clean tones to a Fender?

Well I have a Fender Yale, which many people think was the best SS amp Fender ever made. The cleans are, if anything even sparklier than a Twin Reverb. My small Cube is not quite in that league, but pretty close. If you fancy a modeler, the Cube 20x would be better, or a Peavey Vypyr. All popular amps, that should be easy enough to find for trial purposes.

What do people think of the Marshall Class 5 all valve combo? Saw one yesterday and it looked gorgeous, didn't try it though as I have intention of buying at the moment and hate wasting people's time.

Looked like good value though and at 5 watts seems well suited to what you're looking for apart from the headphone socket.

I've heard the class5 is brilliant for that early clapton type sound, but it has no master volume, so to get any distortion you need to crank it. 5 watts may not seem much, but it'll be really, REALLY loud for home use..
