Are you kidding? I looked at an A4 when we were car shopping and you could fill in for a hearse with the boot on one of those!

Sadly, we're both too young and too inexperienced as drivers for the insurance on an A4 to be anything like affordable. Shame, it looked like a lovely car...

The boot itself it pretty damn big in terms of depth (towards the rear seats), unfortunately the opening isn't up to much and it's a little shallow (height wise). It's just odd enough that I can't easily get the buggy in without much fiddling.

'tis a lovely car though! Mine's quite old (2002). After much searching I found it at the back of a Perry's forecourt. 1 owner from new, 30,000 miles and had been serviced every 6 months on the dot. I'll definitely be looking at the Avant (estate) models when I go shopping.

You'll be fine with a Focus Bob. I bought one just before my daughter was born (6 months now, asleep on my lap as I type) and there is plenty of room. We went away to Cornwall for a few days recently and got everything in - just! Although I did insist on taking an old guitar and practice amp, so that might not be deemed strictly necessary by most.

The only thing to watch for is isofix mounts for child seats - Ford are one of the very few car manufacturers that don't fit these as standard. Some cars will have them and others won't despite the manual showing them as present. I was quite confused for a while. My local dealer charged £70 to fit a set.

And I totally agree re the NCT course. A little bit bo-ho and earth mother-ish, that could have just been our instructor, but very informative. Just watch out for the blown up photos of real life births. They are quite full on & took a bit of getting used to! As Not the DJ mentioned the ready-made network of other couples going through the same thing has been very, very useful. The girls all still meet weekly for coffee & baby classes etc and we do the occasional social event too. And we are planning to start a baby-sitting rota once all the babes are old enough, essential if you don't have immediate family close by.

I should bl00dy hope so. Not planning on bottle feeding or buying a great many of the baby gadgets out there, so shouldn't need quite as much space as some more generously equipped parents

No, it wasn't just your instructor. I think I'm probably a bit boho-earth-mother (or father, I guess...) inclined myself, so I didn't mind, although I did notice the bias

What the latest with the forum babies then. Any of those little rock stars emerged into the world yet?

Could say that. Had a rude wake up call at 0130 this morning with "OH" which woke me up. Followed by "either I've just pee'd myself or my waters have broken".

This beautiful little lady (Sophia Chloe) arrived at 0833 this morning. Mum's in over night and baby will be in for 2 - 3 weeks as she was born 33 weeks 6 days (due 12th Jan). She's healthy though and living on her own systems.

Not sunk in yet.

I need another beer.

Wow, congratulations!

Hope all is OK with the little lady. I've got a couple of friends whose son was prem and you just wouldn't know now (he's 2).

Can't wait for our second, we're working on that ;-)

Amazing times!

Wow. That's not what you want if the wife decides to wake you up in the early hours of the morning ;\)

Congratulations. She's beautiful.
