picker 304 picker 304 Be Nice (I'm New!) Registered: 20/08/10 Posts: 13 Loc: US	Hello Been a session player for years and wanted to share this. When clients enter the studio we are expected to compose at the drop of a hat. (usually we have 6-7 hours to complete a 10 song album). I couldn't do this without the NNN. Whether chord composing, substition, transposing or scale study learn the NNN. It is an amazing alternative and is well suited for the beginner to advanced player. Please don't let anyone tell you it isn't worth it. Along with a few more applications it is my Holy Grail. DaveBass DaveBass Old Timer Registered: 30/10/02 Posts: 6424 Loc: The wilds of Surrey	Nashville numbers are the poor relation of real music theory, in particular the theory of harmony. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nashville_number_system If you're in it for the long haul, learning to read music will open up all the resources of music theory that are effectively inaccessible to you without a knowledge of standard notation. This is because the examples are always given in standard notation. Reading dots is really no more difficult than reading guitar tablature ("tab") or any other notation system. It takes a little time to get the hang of it but it opens the door to lots of other things. I would encourage every musician to learn to read. Dave

Among other applications I use and the NNN has a tremendous amount to do with music theory in fact it is the whole foundation. Unfortunately many who make comments have only studied 145. My goodness it goes so much farther as I have proven in my 30 years and over 1000 album productions. Its more than 1 4 5 much more!
