I think this should be right. Just replace the pot with switch and resistor (apols for crude MSpaint diagram!)



I'm sure Dave will correct if I'm wrong \:D

Aye, aye All, Well, it's done and it works spot on. The on/on switch with a 240K resistor across it with the wiring as you showed me. Couldn't get a 250K so thought the 240 would be okay, and it is. This is much easier to operate under 'gig' conditions instead of having to turn the pot all the way up and down again. Thank you all for helping out with this unusual request. Best regards, Pete

No probs- glad it works. 240K will sound very slightly different to 250K, but not by a large amount at all \:\)

Pots usually have a tolerance of +/- 20% on track resistance, so it could be anywhere from 200k to 300k! Any fixed resistor in that range should be okay.
