The Classics and Classic Players are Mexican-made models designed to emulate the Guitars of the '50s, '60s and '70s vintage eras, whereas the Standards are, as the name implies, the 'standard' production model. The Classics have distinctive features that distinguish them from the Standard models, like vintage pickups, v-necks on the '50s, flatter radius on the '60s, etc. I appreciate that without being able to compare them side by side, they can be a bit difficult to identify unless you have some familiarity with them. I suppose the easiest way would be by their tuners. The Classics and Classic Players have vintage-style tuners, which have a perfectly oval knob, a slot at the top of the post (capstan), and a hole down the middle of the post. The only exception is the Classic '70s, but these are easily distinguishable by the extra large headstock. The Standards have the 'modern' tuners which have just a hole through the top of the post instead of a slot. Hope that explains it.
