..the country, not the shop. Marvellous place. I could have easily stayed WAY longer.

First batch of pics are up if anyone's interested. I've just about got the hang of the new camera and happy I got the Olympus and not a full blown DSLR.

Brilliant photographs. You must be proud of them.
Gullfoss takes me back to the 60's and my time at Nautical College in Leith. Gullfoss was the name of the ferry that used to sail, every couple of days, between Leith and Iceland. It used to sail past our classroom window.

Thanks. I am rather \:\) I'm starting to see how this photography lark can get addictive...

It's a fabulous place- I highly recommend it if anyone's into walking/hiking type stuff. Reykjavik is nice, but small so not a huge amount to do, but the national parks are just phenomenal

I agree, great photo's. I have done photography from way back, almost 40 years, even had my own dark room, addictive, very.

This is one place i promise my self every year to go, and yet still to go.

My god, I never thought Iceland was that stunning!

Always thought it was a little baron!!

Is it right there are only eight names for men or is that some obscure urban legend I once dreamt?

to save face I looked it up.

And I quote:

In Iceland, people are named using patronymics, which creates a “last” name based on the father’s first name and the person’s gender, e.g. Katrín Karlsdóttir (Katrín, Karl’s daughter). Because of this, the Icelandic telephone directory is listed alphabetically by first name.

So maybe not 8 lol, but hey, it's still unique

Incredible place, amazing photos! Nice one, Mike. Going back to that other photographic thread, on the discussion about depth of field, I have to say that the first photo demonstrates this quite superbly.

As a matter of interest, patronymics are also commonly used in Jewish (ben) and Arabic (bin or ibn) names, as well as throughout Scandinavia, so not entirely unique. I'm sure there must be others as well.
