As I keep saying, a capacitor is a capacitor and a resistor is a resistor. All that changes is the value, tolerance and either voltage or power capability. Look on Farnell or RS Components sites and you will notice not a huge price difference between cheapest and dearest once these factors have been taken into account. Take it from me. I have worked in electronics from 1966 to 2008 !

Our local Maplins is brilliant. They are posting me three caps that cost £0.51p with free postage and it will cost them £0.42p for the process, not including the envelope. Why? Because they were out of stock. Fantastic service. They are a proper shop with real service and values. We could save loads using them, even in favour of the Ebay shop which might be coming to a high street near you...

The caps thing! I know, I know... Too late to stop me putting Russian PIO caps in my strat build, doubt I be buying any more though! Ah well, a fool and his money as they say...

Great service from your local Maplins as you say Oldjono - wish I could say the same about mine... the staff do not seem to know anything about electronics. A case in point, I needed some very narrow single core coax cable - I spy something that looks possible, but impossible to see if it is coax, ask girl in store, she confidently answers a no (though somehow I don't think she actually knows what coax cable is...). I buy a couple of metres of something else instead. Later I go back in and buy a metre of the stuff I originally asked about, get home - it is in fact coax cable!
