Like the peghead layout.

Nicely done - proportions look just right to me, should look very good!

Glad I went with the slight offset rather than a symetrical layout, now I need to decide if I dare try to do a bit of a } sort of shape on the end or play safe and square.
I've ordered a drill press and wont be doing any drilling until that arrives later this week so I'm amusing myself by applying a few coats of tru-oil for now.

I like to look at other Guitars when considering this sort of stuff - typed "12 string headstock" into google and did an image search, any of these appeal at all?

Not trying to take over your build or anything , just at a loose end as I'm waiting for project parts to arrive myself!

Image loading went wrong 1st time, trying again...

Or maybe this kind of thing (from a Breedlove acoustic) for the headstock end...

I like the clean modern kind of look I guess - your guitar though of course...

I like the Breedlove one best out of those, I think I had something like this in mind

maybe inverted so there's a point at the centre, but being my first attempt at anything like this I could be better going with a simpler design.

The point at the centre idea would be nice I have to admit! Could you do a slightly asymmetric version to balance with the offset tuning machines?

I know what you mean about wondering how much ambition to have with these things, it can be a hard call to make. Maybe if you can practice on another bit of wood?

Asymetric is good, it gives you a bit of leeway whereas if you go for symmetry and miss by just a little it shows. I should give it a try and have a design something like that Breedlove to fall back on if it goes wrong.

As an aside, I'm sorely tempted by that Johnson...

Remember to use a dowel type drill with a centre point and two spurs, for a clean cut through wood.
