Yes. That is the type I mean. I drill a 1.5mm pilot hole right through. I then drill the finished hole about a third of the way through from one side and then all the way through from the other. This insures a nice clean finish both sides. Drilling through maple is like drilling through cast iron.

I just checked and although both of my tele bridges can be strung either way, using both will place the second string of each pair hard against the adjustment springs. I've ordered the Gotoh bridge so I can see if the saddles will transplant onto a tele bridge plate and if not I might have to get guitarbuild to make the bridge pickup socket small enough to use a pickup surround.
