Hi Graham,
it's a Chinese made Squier,I have no idea of it's age or what kind of wood it's made out of but overall it's not a bad guitar for what it is but in the same breath it's still a cheap guitar,if you know what I mean.
I certainly don't have any qualms about knocking it about to test my modding skills though so that's all good.

I had flatter,lower frets on my Les Paul if I remember correctly and they were comfortable but don't worry the frets are smooth enough to not cause any playing issues.Besides I don't think I took too much off anyway.
I'm just going to have a look now and see if I can find where she's shorting out.

Hi folks, took a while, but in response to Jocko's original request (see the first post in this thread) I have done a picture guide to my fret-levelling, crowning and polishing procedure, which is now incorporated into my Strat build project thread: Fret levelling/crowning in Megi's strat build - have a look if interested. This is just how I do it - use at your own risk!
