I use a daisy chain off a single power supply for my effects, including 3 digital ones, and it works great - I think the main issue is that the power supply provides enough current for everything, so check the specs.

It depends what pedals you're using (never an easy answer I'm afraid!)

Most regular pedals will daisychain fine as long as the total current draw from the pedals doesn't exceed the max output of the PSU. Others don't like sharing a psu and will hiss or hum (EHX stuff, Eventide *Factor pedals, Line6 stuff often have issues).

I use 2 Johnnyshredfreak adaptors- my Eventide Timefactor has one to itself, and everything else runs off the other via daisychain

stickyfiddle has given a much better answer than I could have - I didn't know that some pedals don't tolerate sharing a psu well. But in general (assuming they are not sharing-averse) it's what he says - check the current draw for each pedal (should be in the instructions if you've kept that on on the bottom somewhere, or maybe online), add them all up, and if that figure is less than the current rating for the PSU, it should work. My PSU is fairly modest in rating, but still works with my setup, but I have seen some PSUs available now with really good high current ratings.

It won't work - I think that's a given! I guess you could mess about re-soldering things, or making some sort of adapter lead for the centre-negative pedal(s), but there might be earthing issues that mean that's not a good idea. I'm not an electronics expert I have to admit... very possibly you should resign yourself to having a separate centre-negative power supply unit for the pedals that need it. I guess it's not such a big deal as long as it all fits OK on the pedal board.

What matters isn't whether the centre pin is negative or positive; except that each pedal has to be connected the right way round, which can be done by swapping wires. What matters is whether the pedals are positive or negative earth.

This is because in many electronic circuits a single connection doubles as both the audio ground / earth / common / return / 0V (call it what you will) and as one of the dc power supply connections. Usually it's the negative connection. This is okay as long as all the pedals follow the same convention. But if not, it results in the positive and negative power supply connections being connected together. In other words the dc supply is short-circuited, resulting in nothing working, and possibly smoke from the power supply unit.

Although the negative earth convention is almost universal nowadays, some early transistor circuits such as fuzz boxes used a positive earth. (This was more convenient with the pnp transistors available in the 1960s.)

There are several ways around this, but without getting too technical the easiest solution in practice is for the "odd one out" to have its own power supply. Often just a battery.

Dave's covered that well. If you have anything with centre positive you can get adaptors to switch the polarity. As long as it's all negative ground you'll be fine,

Generally if you have any positive-ground pedals you'd already know
