This is what tube amps are about, how much you have to push them before they become in the sweet (spot).
How many of you would push your hi-fi amps to the point of clipping before you are happy with the sound.
Me, i like to have more on tap so there is no need to over do it.
Graham has pointed out a good point here, with the pedals you can produce a good sound.
Steve, another good point, what you start with and the line to the out put all has some way of producing a different sound.
Its all about, how you use what you got.
