Cheers J, I will look forward to that - I think it's good when any of us guitar modders/builders attempts a job if we can share with the forum what we find - useful for the next guy who has a crack at something similar. I may be attempting a replacement nut on my green Ibanez soon - this also has a slot-fit strat type nut, so I'm interested in what you're up to.
There are some jazz chords where one finger has to fret a couple of adjacent strings at the same fret, using the end of the finger (i.e. not the same as a partial barre, but a different technique) - so a slightly narrower string spacing could be good for chord work, as long as it's not too narrow. I think this guitar could end up having a very useful role in your collection.
