10" I believe is the traditional radius for a Les Paul. And 16" would be a fair bit flatter feeling. Overall, I guess it is a good idea, although one drawback of the compound radius has to be that you can't use a radius block to level the frets - I don't anyway, so I doubt it would be an issues for me, but it's worth thinking about.
Just an idea, what about a chambered/thinline style tele, with a separate dark wood for the top, say mahogony for the main chambered part (perhaps stained a little darker?) and walnut or rosewood or some other nice looking wood for the top? Might not be as pricey as a full wenge body.

Modern Gibsons are usually 12", but 50's ones were 10"

While I'm daydreaming....
The red bodies look nice but I think I'd go for the one far left but that'd be a £500 guitar before adding any hardware, p&p or import taxes.

I like the one on the right (what wood is that btw?) - a nice tru oil finish on that, some nice hardware... could be very classy! Not that I'm averse to a bit of flame maple, but I do think it can look a bit OTT sometimes, for example the one on the left might be too much with gold hardware, for my taste at least - but that's just me!

Flame Maple is a nice finish but it's everywhere these days isn't it.

The one on the right is my second favorite, partly because I'd get to do the tru-oil finish and it's a fair bit cheaper. It's Black Korina and chambered whereas the flamed maple is on top of solid swamp ash. Interestingly (to me at least) the red one on the left is listed as hollow rather than chambered though only two ounces lighter. Flamed maple may be everywhere but I dont have one.... (I have two but Strats and Les Pauls dont count here and neither of them are as pretty/striking as that one ).

I've got to say with that added information, the black korina gets my vote big time. I do like the chambered idea. I've never asked, but what kind of music are you likely to play on the guitar Bry?

I'll(try to) play along to whatever I happen to be listening to at the time, it would probably be mostly jazz, blues and reggae. I dont think there'd be a lot of satisfaction to be had from building the flamed maple one, it'd be no more than assembling the parts. Pretty parts yes and I'd get plenty of pleasure from playing or even just looking at it, but I've got a bit attached to the tru-oil ritual now...
