Hi folks,
has anyone heard of or does anyone use Trinity Blue Thunder pick-ups?
I've not heard of them before and google can't find anything either so I'm at a loss.
Thanks

Adam Mayes - www.mayespickups.com - had a line of pickups called Trinity. The name was because he had a single coil looking pickup that actually has three coils in it. This short YouTube video introduced them. I have no idea about Blue Thunder. If anyone can help you it is probably Adam. His email address is info@mayespickups.com

I think I've seen those pickups on Ebay before - if they are the same ones I looked at, they have ceramic magnets, which puts me off a bit, however well they are designed. Not quite convinced by the neck either, and I'm not a fan of fake Fender decals on the headstock. I notice there are no closes ups showing the neck fit, which is always something to think about. But all said and done, it's probably a great guitar for the money if it goes for around £250 say - I am a suspicious bugger though LOL.

You're not alone, the guy's been buying parts from twin-cam and others and in all fairness he does make a nice looking guitar and visually I can't see there being too much wrong with them.

The off-putting thing for me would be the neck and I messaged him asking if he could give me more detail regarding the neck and he said he couldn't as he has so many around he loses track of where they come from......
for me that's code for 'I think it's a cheap one but I don't want that to de-value the overall build so I'll tell a porkie/little white lie'.
I could be completely wrong of course but that's my feeling.
Still for £200 you wouldn't be getting a bad guitar and probably more value for money than a shop could offer you,who knows.

So it's a counterfeit Fender. By all means make a copy but I don't like condoning counterfeiters.

My first thought looking at it was how lovely the bookmarking is. I then noticed that the scratchplate on the lower bout doesn't line up properly (centrally); it looks too low on the bout. Compare it with the genuine Fender below.

Regarding the counterfitting - I'm not sure where the law stands, it may well actually be illegal to put a Fender decal on a headstock, even on a home build guitar like this. I think people sometimes do it because they just want the "look" to be right (as they see it), and this chap is not making out it is an actual Fender. Fender probably have bigger fish to fry than chasing up things like this, I don't like it is all I can say - surely better to come up with a classy logo of your own, or even just leave the headstock clean.

Looking at the pic you've posted Lester, I can see exactly what you're saying re the scratchplate, and also the neck fit does look a bit suspect just above the neck pickup. And that neck does look like a cheapy the more I look at it. So he will have done well if he gets his £200 IMO, but I won't be me buying it!

I believe it's legal to put a decal on your own guitar. But selling that guitar with that decal is illegal.

It's a shame people feel the need to do it really
