someone's asked me what I could do with this track.
I'll admit before this week I was not overly familiar with it but it appears to rely on a major/minor change in A for the tension/resolution of the tune.
I'm kicking myself I've not spent more time on it before because it's a real old classic tune and a beauty as well.

Here's Gary Moore's version

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXljcwt7JMk&list=PLD5857920E3C4552E&index=14&feature=plpp_video

here's the original

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Syxgc2665w4&list=PLD5857920E3C4552E&index=16&feature=plpp_video

and here's a backing track version

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow4xwNkjMnk

there are dozens of versions out there.

I think the Gary Moore version goes to the major key a for the solo part and the Peter Green version stays more in the minor key .

So,what I'm suggesting is,if anyone's interested,we all post a few different versions in here using the same backing track....
maybe the guys who've built Guitars can use those instruments and we can all get to hear them as well as just looking at all the pics of them.

I'm trying to find the swing where the major/minor change lives and I think I'll have a go at building something around there or I may just stick with Mr Green and keep it all in the minor key as I feel that's more where it belongs but there's plenty of scope for a few different takes there.
So,what do you think guys?

ps,
here's a tab of it

A great fun idea. I am still busy learning songs for my new band in time for my first gig with them next month, so I'll play another time.

Good tune and a good idea Andrew. I used to use a ukulele forum where they did this with a new tune each month and it can be interesting to see everyones different take on the chosen song.
Cant do the video part but am already trying to learn to play the tune.

It's eerily similar to a chord progression I've played for years without ever knowing where it came from, except mine went to D minor instead of the Ebdim7.
Also put me in mind of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAa-lCowVMY&feature=related

Very similar indeed, maybe Little Willy was at an Elmore James concert once or twice....there's a John Mayall tune uses the exact same progression as well apparently ,if I come across it again I'll link it in here

I have been at this one on and off for a while now, both G/moore and the Peter Greens versions.

Great in both, to pick one from the other is a hard choice.

Your tab: you put up is very nice if you have an account to get the pro.

I do have the Peter Green book, and Gary Moore, sad to say that the version is only in Peter Green tab book.

To add i do play this different from time to time, i think it reflects on how you feel at the time..
